Book on Biosafety launched

The Asian Biotechnology and Development Review (ABDR), a special issue on biosafety and socio-economic considerations, was launched by the Research and Information System for Developing Countries (RIS) on the third day of the Meeting of Parties 11 (MOP 6) a convention on biodiversity on Wednesday. Research and Information System for Developing Countries is a New Delhi-based autonomous think-tank under the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India. It specializes in policy research on international economic issues and development cooperation.

Aimed at generating wider awareness of the issues involved and emerging developments in the area of biotechnologies, ABDR is managed and guided by the biotechnology experts. Supported by the Life Science Division of the UNESCO and the Department of Biotechnology of Government of India, the journal is abstracted in Cab International and Science of Science of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), New Delhi.

The book consists of different papers written by experts and scientists on socio-economic considerations under the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety and provides insights for effective implementation, aspects of decision-making, the African story on Governance of Biotechnology and a few book reviews revolving around the same subject.
