Both the new releases of the week – Piyush Jha's Sikandar and Rohit Nayyar's Shadow opened poorly at the box office.
While Kaminey, which had a great first week, the film's collections saw a drop in big city multiplexes and a huge fall at other places over the second weekend.
Further, with Ganesh festival, there have been lower footfalls in cinema screens across Mumbai and rest of Maharashtra.
Sikandar was earlier planned for a March-end release but due to the producers-multiplex owners tussle, it kept getting postponed and finally released after five months.
The R Madhavan and Sanjay Suri-starrer opened to dismal collections on day one across the country with occupancy ranging from 10 to 20 per cent.
The reports were mixed too and perhaps that's the reason why the film didn't pick up with word-of-mouth on the weekends.
The weekends ended with almost the same occupancy with a few select multiplexes in big cities showing better collections. But on Monday the film went downhill big time again.
Nasser Khan's Shadow too opened poorly across the country on day one with 15 to 20 per cent occupancy. But on the weekend the collections rose to 20-30 per cent but in B and C centre single screens only.
Kaminey had a terrific first week run amassing Rs 25 crore net collections thanks mostly to big city multiplexes. However the movie could not repeat the big run on the second weekend.
The film showed a drastic fall at many places. Single screens collections faired badly but a select few multiplexes sustained good collections over the second weekend, especially in Mumbai and Delhi.
The film may settle with a hit or a semi-hit tag at the end of its run, opine trade pundits.
Govinda-Tusshar Kapoor-Fardeen Khan starrer Life Partner grossed Rs 10.50 crore net collections in its week one.
The film did pick up after a slow start especially in the smaller centres but the big city multiplexes have given the film big thumbs down.
The second weekend of the film had an over all occupancy in the range of 35-40 per cent.
Love Aaj Kal has acquired the super hit tag what with Rs 63 crore net collections gross in three weeks.

Trade Talk
Senior trade analyst Amar Solanki tells us, "Despite a few flaws, Sikandar was a well-intended and well directed film by Piyush Jha.
The performance of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai boy Parzaan Dastur was excellent and the suspense quotient was superb as well. But it suffered from lack of face value and wrong timing.
A serious film during the time of festivities generally doesn't work in Bollywood.
Shadow was widely publicised as a film starring a blind man in the role of a man who could see. But this publicity hardly evoked any interest in the average cinegoer to give the film a try.
Though smaller centers are holding on well for the film it won't hold on beyond first week.
Veteran distributor J Popat says, "Kaminey would have had a first week and could have raked in Rs 5-6 crore.
"However, it missed the first weekend in Mumbai circuit due to the swine flu scare.
"Despite the fall at many places in the second week, the film will recover its Rs 42 crore (Rs 35 crore budget and Rs 7 crore for print and publicity) cost.
"Similarly Life Partner could have made at least Rs 2-3 crore had it got the first weekend advantage of Mumbai-Pune.
"Sikandar's collections could have increased by 20 per cent had there been a greater critical acclaim.
"Shadow was a dated film and won't hold on next week with five to six new releases coming up."
Girish Wankhede, Deputy General Manager of Cinemax tells us, "We had great response for Kaminey from last Monday when it opened in Mumbai up till now.
"The second weekend had shows houseful at many of our properties. The film has offered a completely different experience opined many of our patrons.
"Life Partner has been doing well at our Gujarat properties due its Gujarati flavour. Shadow and Sikandar however have failed to pull in the crowd."
