BJP raises Delhi gangrape case in Parliament
BJP said women MPs from NDA constituents will stage dharna inside Parliament House complex Wednesday morning.

New Delhi: Slamming the Delhi government as well as the Centre for failing to bring down the crime graph in the national capital, Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday raised the issue of the brutal gang-rape of a girl in the national capital in Parliament. There was chaos in the Upper House with Opposition members demanding a statement from the Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde on the horrific incident.

Noisy scenes followed as Parliamentary Affairs minister Rajiv Shukla tried addressing the House. With Opposition members not relenting, the Rajya Sabha Chairman Hamid Ansari announced the matter will be taken up at 12 noon with Shinde's response and adjourned the House for 15 minutes.

Earlier the BJP gave notice for the suspension of Question Hour to discuss the issue. "Several of our members have moved notice to suspend Question Hour (in both Houses)...they were deeply agitated," BJP national spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad said. He said women MPs from NDA constituents will stage a dharna inside Parliament House complex Wednesday morning to flag the issue of "Delhi becoming a centre of atrocities on women...there is no palpable action by the police."
