CUMBUM: Members of the youth wing of Kerala unit of BJP on Sunday trespassed into Periyar Tiger Sanctuary to reach baby dam at Mullaiperiyar, with an intention to vandalise the structure, sources said.After reaching the site, around 18 of them tied party flags on the dam and attempted to damage the structure with hammer and iron rods. However, Kerala police apprehended them before they could cause any damage. When the police brought the cadre on a boat to Thekkady, around 100 party supporters surrounded the cops demanding their release.After receiving instruction from the higher ups, they were released.Meanwhile, the Kerala police also prevented another group of BJP youth wing members from reaching the baby dam through Vallakadavu near Thekkady. This group tried to trespass into the 14-km reserved forest area to reach the dam.
