New Delhi: The BJP demanded the resignation of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh on Saturday saying the term of the house had already expired.
"Mulayam Singh Yadav should immediately resign on moral grounds," BJP leader Lalji Tandon was quoted by PTI as he reminded him of 2001 when all Samajwadi Party MLAs quit to force early elections in the state.
He said the BSP has given a walkover to Yadav by accepting resignations of its party MLAs. BSP chief Mayawati today announced that all 63 legislators of her party have submitted their resignations to her.
Ruling out any possibility of resignations by its MLAs, Tandon said the BJP would hold a meeting of its legislators tommorow to chalk a strategy for February 26, when Yadav will try to prove his majority in the house.
"It is not necessary to follow anybody," he said when asked whether his party MLAs would also resign.
