HYDERABAD: Ridiculing TRS’ oft-repeated claim that only it can secure statehood to the Telangana region, the state BJP has asserted that Telangana will be possible only with national political parties. Addressing a press conference along with BJP MLA Y Srinivas Reddy at the state BJP headquarters here on Friday, party spokesman NVSS Prabhakar accused the TRS of getting closer to the Congress because of which it was playing a game to weaken the BJP in the region.He asked the TRS to explain to the people of the region how it can achieve the goal with just two members in Parliament. Prabhakar further alleged that the TRS’ decisions before and after Chidambaram’s December 9 statement indirectly supported the Congress in the region and campaigned in support of the Congress.After the December 23 statement of the Union home minister, the TRS chief failed to take up a serious protest programme. While the BJP totally opposed Justice Srikrishna Committee the TRS welcomed it. TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao’s inefficient leadership was the main reason for the unabated spate of suicides in Telangana, the BJP leader said.“Telangana movement and elections are different. If the BJP wins the Parkal byelection it will force the Union government to take an early decision,’’ Prabhakar said.
