HYDERABAD: The state government has decided to introduce biometric system in all the schools, colleges and hostels to rightly monitor the attendance of students and teachers. Information and communication technology minister Ponnala Lakshamaiah ha s directed his department officials to prepare a plan for setting up the system in all colleges, schools and hostels within two weeks’ time.He asked them to submit a detailed report to him within two weeks on it.Lakshamaiah, in a press statement on Tuesday, said he had received informal proposals from finance minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy and revenue minister N Raghuveera Reddy on introduction of the system.The government is of the opinion that the bio-metric system will help it monitor the attendance at hostels, schools and colleges.The government can pay salaries to teachers and scholarships to students based on the attendance recorded.
