As per reports, on August 4, District Collector Guha Poonam Tapas Kumar received a complaint from the ward member of Kureswar gram panchayat Ghanashyam Naik. He alleged irregularities in the execution of road and renovation of water bodies under MGNREGS.The District Collector asked SP Uma Shankar Das to probe the matter. Verification of the records revealed that a road was laid in Kureswar village from Saraswati Sishu Mandir School to Tarini temple at an estimated cost of Rs 3 lakh and labour payment was reflected at Rs 60,472. But on the ground no work had been undertaken.Similar was the case with dredging of a water body in Dohelpada village. Here too, records were fudged to show work taken up at an estimated cost of Rs 12 lakh, but nothing was done at the grassroots.
