BANGALORE: Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) on Thursday registered  a case with the Bangalore Metropolitan Task Force (BMTF) with regard to alleged irregularities in ward-level works running to the tune of  Rs 1,500 crore during the year 2008-09. According to sources, the scam pertains to the 10,100 ward-level works in Malleswaram, Rajarajeshwarinagar and Gandhinagar assembly constituencies from 2008-09 to date. Most irregularities were traced to Gandhinagar constituency (4,960 works worth Rs 745 crore), followed by Malleswaram (3,300 works, Rs 497 crore) and Rajarajeshwarinagar (1,830 works, Rs 296 crore), the sources explained. When alerted about the impending scam, BBMP Commissioner H Siddaiah directed the Technical Vigilance Committee under Commissioner (TVCC) to seize the bill registry (BR) and other files of all these works for verification. The officials, however, have been able to collect documents and files pertaining to only around 200 works, due to ‘missing’ files.  BBMP Commissioner Siddaiah was unavailable for comment on the issue.
