HYDERABAD: Four teams of city police were sent to Pune, Tamil Nadu and Bidar on Saturday to hunt down those involved in stealing a bag containing Rs 55 lakh cash, through attention diversion, from the authorities of a security agency which was supposed to load the cash in the SBI ATM at Chikapally on Friday. The central zone police said it was a handiwork of inter-state gang which was specialised in stealing cash by diverting attention. It is also suspected that at least two persons were involved in executing the offence. "It is still not clear whether the offender boarded a bus or sped on another vehicle," Chikkadpally inspector S Pratap told Express.Police ruled out role of insiders in the theft. "Negligence of the security agency is more prominent in the case. The security personnel kept the bag at the driver's seat instead of keeping it in the rear cabin which is guarded with grills, Pratap said.On Friday, personnel of CMS Security Agency, whcih deposits money in ATMs of various banks, came to the SBI ATM to deposit money.Two employees went inside the ATM room to deposit Rs 45 lakh. The van driver Ashok and a security guard, Dwivedi, stood guard to the Rs 55-lakh cash bag in the vehicle.Meanwhile, the offenders laid bait to the driver and security guard by throwing Rs 10 notes on the road. Seeing the Rs 10 notes behind the vehicle, Ashok, came out of the vehicle to collect them.By the time, he returned to his seat, the bag went missing.Police said that they could not initiate any action against personnel of the security agency.
