Gwalior: Amidst controversy triggered by his reported statement on Rahul Mahajan, former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee has said there was a need for the BJP to introspect in the light of the alleged drug abuse case.
"Mistakes can be made by people and by the party. It will take time to rectify them. After this (Mahajan) episode, there is a need for introspection by BJP," Vajpayee said.
Claiming that his previous statement about Rahul was interpreted out of context, the senior BJP leader said he was speaking about him making a ‘mistake’ from a human perspective.
"Law will take its own course. Those who have made mistakes will have to pay for it," Vajpayee said.
Taking a strong stand with regard to discipline within the party, Vajpayee said, "Indiscipline will not be tolerated in BJP. People have been removed from the party for it and this practice will be followed in future".
Without naming former party leader, Uma Bharti, he ruled out chances of return by those asked to leave the party due to indiscipline.
