New Delhi: Asus has announced the launch of a slew of Windows 8 devices, which include notebooks Asus VivoBook F202E and Asus VivoBook S400, a dockable tablet Asus VivoTab RT TF600TG, and the Asus Taichi dual screen convertible ultrabook/tablet that can display two screens simultaneously. All devices run Microsoft's Windows 8 operating system.
The Asus Taichi is a fusion of notebook and tablet. Lid open, Taichi is a notebook with a full HD screen and backlit keyboard. Lid closed, Taichi is a tablet with a multi-touch full HD screen for fingertip control with Windows 8. The 13.3-inch dual LED-backlit Windows 8 Pro ultrabook comes with touch-enabled TFT LCD display, Intel Core i7-3517M, HD Camera 5M, Stylus Pen, Ram 4GB DDR3 1600, and storage 256GB SATA3 SSD. It has built-in motion sensors for mobile gaming, dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0.
The Mirror mode shows the same image on both back-to-back screens, so it is believed to be a good option for showing a presentation without the need for a bulky projector. Each back-to-back screen can be used separately with different apps - one with the keyboard and multi-touch touchpad, while the other with the multi-touch screen and stylus. The Asus Taichi will be available in India at Rs 1,39,999.
The fourth device announced today was Asus Vivo Tab RT that comes with its own mobile dock that has a QWERTY keyboard, track pad, USB port and built-in battery. It has a 10.1-inch HD Glare capacitive multi-touch display and Nvidia Tegra3 processor, RAM 2G DDR3 and storage of 64G EMMC. It also includes WLAN 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, 2 megapixel front and an 8 megapixel rear camera with Flash. The Asus VivoTab RT TF600 TG will be available in India at a price point of Rs 61,999.
