Assam Woman Jumps From Moving Train, Chases Down Thief Running Away With Her Bag

We have seen it in films where it is often the hero who comes to the rescue of the common man or does daring stunts to catch a thief. But have you seen this happen in real life? Well, in Assam’s Dibrugarh, a brave woman attempted a daredevil stunt to catch hold of a thief. This left everyone at the scene shocked as people saw a real-life scene coming true.

On May 30, Pranati Das was returning to Dibrugarh from Guwahati for the treatment of her husband. The woman was travelling in a reserved seat of the Nagaland Express with her husband, father-in-law and daughter. At around 3 pm, a thief threw her bag from the moving train and jumped. Instead of panicking or waiting for someone to help, she took matters into her own hands. The 28-year-old quickly jumped out of the moving train and chased the robber for about three to four kilometres.

Finally, her bag was recovered from the dense jungle near the railway track with the help of the locals. This incident took place just before reaching the Furkating junction. The incident raised questions about passenger safety on the Indian Railways. It further raised questions about how the thief was travelling on the train and reached her coach without any ticket.

As per reports, the authorities in charge of security on the train are suspected of their involvement in the theft. The brave woman, Pranali Das has already submitted a written complaint to the departmental authorities seeking an investigation into the incident.

This is not the first instance where a passenger or a thief has jumped out of a moving train. Recently, a video went viral online where a young boy snatched a chain from an elderly lady returning from the lavatory. The boy jumped out of the moving train and must have sustained injuries.

The incident was caught on the CCTV camera installed right near the door of the compartment.
