BALASORE: Even as the locals are still fuming over the alleged irregularity in selection of junior clerks posted in Balasore collectorate, aspirants for the combined police services examination here have complained of goof-ups during the written test. The aspirants, who appeared for the test conducted on August 21 by Staff Selection Commission (SSC), alleged that the question papers were leaked and they were apprehensive about the outcome of the test. Proof: They said there was no seal when the question papers were distributed to the candidates. “The question papers are usually kept in a sealed envelope and the candidates are provided individually sealed question paper but this procedure was overlooked here,” said an aspirant Sagar Das. As a rule the seal of question papers envelope is removed in front of the centre superintendent, invigilator and two candidates. “Though we immediately raised an alarm, none responded to it at the centre,” he said. As many as 20,000 youths appeared for the test from nine centres in Balasore town. Moreover, in the question paper the answer options were mentioned as a, b, c or d but in the optional mark reader (OMR) the options were mentioned numerically and there was no mention if ‘a’ option was equivalent to 1 or ‘d’ to 4.  More than 50 aspirants led by Das have met District Collector Akhila Bihari Ota and lodged a written complaint against the faulty examination process of the SSC demanding cancellation of the test. The Collector has reportedly assured them to take steps in this regard. Reliable sources said the Collector has written to the SSC authorities to come out with a clarification and Balasore SP has also been asked to submit a report on this matter.
