BHUBANESWAR: The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has drawn up an extensive programme for promotion of tourism at the Konark Temple through the New Delhi-based Shristi Consultancy Services. To a question from Amar Satpathy (NCP) in the Assembly on Tuesday, Culture Minister Prafulla Samal said that the State Government had already handed over the required land for this to the ASI. The ASI has informed the State Government that the Indian Oil Foundation had already started work on this. The minister said that during the last five years the ASI has spent ` 2.09 crore for protection and preservation of the Konark temple. The ASI has cleared all encroachments around the temple since 2005, he said and added that measures had been initiated to free rest of land from encroachments.
