Arvind Kejriwal To Stay In Jail As Delhi High Court Pauses Bail Granted By Trial Court
The Delhi HC also issued notice to Kejriwal seeking his response to the Enforcement Directorate's plea challenging the trial court's June 20 order by which he was granted bail

Delhi High Court on Friday granted an interim stay on the trial court’s bail order to AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal in the money laundering case regarding the alleged liquor policy scam. “I am reserving the order for two to three days. Till the pronouncement of the order, the operation of the trial court order is stayed,” a vacation bench of Justice Sudhir Kumar Jain said.

This means that the Delhi chief minister will be staying in the Tihar jail till the pronouncement of the order.

The Delhi HC also issued notice to Kejriwal seeking his response to the Enforcement Directorate’s plea challenging the trial court’s June 20 order by which he was granted bail. The court further said it was reserving the order for 2-3 days to review the entire record.

Appearing for the probe agency, ASG V Raju reacted to the court order and said, “Kejriwal’s bail order has been stayed and the final order will come in 3-4 days and hearing on cancellation of bail plea will happen later and notice has been issued in this regard…”

Meanwhile, AAP Legal Cell State President Sanjeev Nasiar said that it was the probe agency’s intention to not let the relief that has been granted be executed in any way. “By Monday or Tuesday the court will give its order on the stay application and as per that order, it will be decided when Arvind Kejriwal will come out…” Nasiar added.

BJP Reacts To Delhi HC Staying Arvind Kejriwal’s Bail Order

BJP MP Manoj Tiwari reacted to Delhi High Court’s stay on the bail order of Arvind Kejriwal and said that AAP should “learn to respect the court’s decision”.

“…The fight against corruption will continue. I have full faith in the court and the investigation agencies… AAP should learn to respect the court’s decision… Bail is not a relaxation…” he said.
