HYDERABAD: Andhra Pradesh Transmission Corporation Limited (APTransco) bagged three major national wards for its outstanding performance in various fields. The corporation obtained the national vigilance excellence award - 2011, ICWAI-2011 national award for cost management and the excellent public service sector award.The corporation also achieved record savings of around Rs 180 crore by introducing cost control measures, optimal inventory control systems and accounting and timely completion of transmission schemes.In a statement on Thursday, APTransco chairman and managing director (CMD) Ajay Jain said that their various economic and efficiency measures includes achievement of financial closure for its transmission projects over Rs 6,300 crore, arranging direct payments from funding agencies like power finance corporation, rural electrification corporation and various other banks to suppliers and projects contractors and swapping of high interest loans with low interest rates at around 9.8 per cent and others.APTransco was chosen for the excellence in cost management award by a jury headed by Justice J S Varma, former chief justice of the Supreme Court.APTransco was awarded the national vigilance excellence award in competition with various banks, PSUs and other ministries. The award will be presented by vigilance commissioner, Central Vigilance Commission at the VIII Vigilance anniversary celebrations scheduled to be held on July 8 in Hyderabad.
