New Delhi: Social activist Anna Hazare, who has been lodged in Tihar Jail after he was sent to seven days judicial custody on Tuesday, is in the same ward or cell as that of sacked CWG chief Suresh Kalmadi or former telecom minister A Raja. Anna has been kept in Jail No. 4, which is the same jail as that of Kalmadi, but not the same ward.
There were reports that while Anna has been lodged with Kalmadi, his four supporters, who have also been sent to judicial custody have been lodged with A Raja.
However, Neeraj Kumar, DG Prisons, said that Anna and his supporters have been kept in the new admission ward in central jail and are far away from Kalmadi's ward. "Anna and his supporters have been kept segregated from others, and are safe and secure," he said.
Anna was detained by the Delhi Police from his residence early on Tuesday morning before he could start his fast, that was scheduled for 10 am on Tuesday at the Jai Prakash Narain Park in the national capital. He was later sent to seven days judicial custody in the Tihar Jail.
