HYDERABAD: A day ahead of the outcome of the byelections held for seven Assembly seats, leaders of all major political parties are turning like fleas on a hot pan. More so TDP and Congress leaders since the results are expected to be more in the nature of an endorsement of Telangana movement. In Kovur in Nellore district, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy's charisma is at test.As of now, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) alone is confident of winning at least three seats with a majority of more than 30,000 votes. It is of the opinion that independent candidate Nagam Janardhan Reddy too will win with a thumping majority. The party believes that there is a keen fight in Mahbubnagar and Kollapur. But, finally the TRS would manage to win both the seats, the TRS leaders say."After the election results come out, the Congress and the TDP should understand that there will be no point in contesting the 2014 general election without saying yes or no to Telangana," TRS MLA T Harish Rao said. However, the Congress is divided on the results. Chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy's loyalists are confident that Congress candidates will win Mahbubnagar and Kollapur with slight margins, the Telangana Congress leaders are of the opinion that TRS candidates would win all seats. The Kiran Reddy camp feels that the Hindu vote remains divided among the various parties and the Congress candidates might win with slender margin.Telugu Desam leaders are pinning hopes on the Station Ghanpur seat. But, a majority of TDP leaders from Mahbubnagar district state that the TRS and Nagam will emerge victorious in all the three seats in Mahbubnagar."All those who resigned for Telangana will be re-elected in Mahbubnagar district," a TDP MLA said without ambiguity. However, some TDP leaders are happy to note that some exit polls gave their party a second place in some segments in Telangana. On Kovur seat, close aides of Anam Narayana Reddy said the contest was close between YSRCP and Congress and hoped that the Congress candidate would win with a simple majority. The TRS cadre is all set to celebrate the victory on Wednesday when the results will be declared but there are no such preparations in the Congress and TDP camps. The mood is different this time in all the political parties. They are certain to resort some kind of introspection after the outcome of bypolls. First, the TRS would think why victory margin were decreased this time unlike in the past by-polls. The TDP and the Congress should ponder over their stand on separate Telangana in case they lose all the seats in Telangana.Even if winning at least one seat in Telangana either by TDP or Congress, the TRS should redraw its strategies.
