Washington: She might be known for her bizarre style statement, but Amy Winehouse succeeded in wowing the A-list crowd at Paris Fashion Week, including the likes of Jessica Alba, Kanye West and Rihanna with her gig.
The troubled singer performed at the inauguration of Fendi's new Avenue Montaigne boutique facing 600 guests and was donning a beehive hairdo and black-strap Fendi dress paired up with a brash metal belt.
The 24-year-old singer criticised her fashion sense in front of a crowd including the likes of Mary-Kate Olsen, Ashley Olsen, Sofia Coppola, Milla Jovovich and Jade Jagger.
"Forgive my ignorance, I don't know anything about fashion," People quoted her as telling the crowd.
The ‘Rehab’ singer had put up a brave 40-minute performance just after she was relieved of charges in a perversion-of-justice case in England. She showed a strong return on stage singing her greatest hits including ‘Rehab,’ ‘Valerie’ and ‘You Know I'm No Good’.
The bash had dramatically lit fashion tableaux of live models, atrium cocktails and a separate concert room.
The act was orchestrated by Fendi's design-meister Karl Lagerfeld, who selected Winehouse.
Winehouse was joking and interacting with the crowd in between her act and said that she was "really glad to be booked by Fendi because I was getting bored. I'm available for bookings. If anyone wants me for a wedding or a bar mitzvah. Well maybe not a wedding. My music's a little too heartbreak. For a wedding, you need something meeker.”
