NAMAKKAL: Communist Party of India (CPI) State secretary D Pandian said the current alliance led by the AIADMK would continue for the ensuing local body election in the State.Addressing a public meeting, organised by the party’s Namakkal district unit at Paramathi Velur on Monday, Pandian said the Centre was forced to accept the suggestions to the Lokpal Bill made by Anna Hazare who went on an indefinite fast. It would become clear when the bill was taken for discussion in Parliament whether the government accepted all the suggestions or not.Pandian hailed the performance of the State government during its first 100 days in office. Brushing aside the charge levelled by the top DMK leaders that only the members of their party were targeted in land grab cases, Pandian said those who involved in land grab cases were booked by the police.Earlier, speaking to reporters, he said the alliance led by the AIADMK would continue for the local body elections which would likely to be held in October.Slamming the Centre for its stoic attitude on the issue of corruption, Pandian said the government could not check rampant corruption at higher levels.
