NEDUMBASSERY: The investigation into the identity of a Bengali youth Nivin, who intruded into the air-side of Kochi International Airport on Wednesday is progressing in right direction, according to Circle Inspector Krishnan. Police told ‘Express’ that the photo ID card of the youth matched with his identity. He is the son of Sudheer of Gorakhpur. He was on his way to Kollam with two friends to take up some work, when he got down at Chowara railway station. His friends also confirmed his identity. However, the police had given message to their counterparts in Gorakhpur to confirm the identity for further procedure. Meanwhile, in a dramatic turn of events in the investigation, the top police officers realised that the officers of Nedumbassery police station were hiding some facts about the youth. ASP Rahul Nair had come to know that the accused had been taken into custody by the police on Tuesday midnight and escaped from Nedumabassery police station within minutes. The same youth had later trespassed into the airport and escaped when the CISF tried to nab him. The local people in Purayar area near Nedumbassery informed that the Bengali youth was found in suspicious circumstances on the premises of the house of Kadannoth Azis at 11 pm on Tuesday. Azis nabbed him and handed over to Nedumbassery Police. SI Pushparaj, ASI Jacob and CPO George had taken the youth into custody from Azis’ house premises. But the accused escaped from the station. Although the police had made an effort to trace him, it drew a blank.It is alleged that the Nedumbassery Police tried to hide the fact that the youth had escaped from the police station before intruding into the airport. Police Superintendent T Vikram issued orders transferring two cops including ASI Jacob to Mulanthuruthy and CPO George to Njarakkal police station for dereliction of duty.
