PATHANAMTHITTA: The Hindu Aikyavedi on Tuesday took out a march to Pushpagiri Medical College, Tiruvalla, in protest against the decision of the Inter-Church Council on merit seats and fees structure in colleges under the Council.Inaugurating the protest march in front of the college, Aikyavedi state general secretary E S Biju alleged that the UDF Government, in collusion with the Inter-Church Council, was denying social justice. The UDF Government is toeing a soft approach supporting the commercial interests of the Council, which is detrimental to meritorious students, especially those belonging to other communities, he said.The Aikyavedi leader threatened the Inter-Church Council of a state-wide agitation against the decision that deprived social justice and equal opportunities to the students belonging to a major section of the society.Hunger strike and protest march to the Secretariat have also been planned if the discriminatory decision is not withdrawn, he said.
