Rahul was being questioned inside the Intensive Care Unit itself after doctors said he was fit to give a statement.

New Delhi: Rahul Mahajan’s troubles are getting bad to worse. The Delhi Police on Monday told a city court that he might be made an accused in a drugs case.

Rahul, late BJP leader Pramod Mahajan’s son, fell ill after a party in Delhi on June 1. Bibek Maitra, his father’s aide, died. Police, while seeking the custody of three Nigerian nationals, told a metropolitan magistrate that they might file charges against Rahul.

The Nigerians were arrested following the interrogation of Sahil Zarru, who allegedly procured drugs for Rahul and Moitra.

A Delhi Police team on Monday questioned Rahul at the Apollo Hospital about his alleged drug use and Maitra’s death. Hospital sources said that Rahul was questioned inside the Intensive Care Unit itself after doctors said he was fit to give a statement.

A team of police officials led by Ram Kishan, Station House Officer of the Mandir Marg Police Station began recording the statement at about 1100 hrs IST.

Doctors reviewed Rahul's situation on Monday morning and found him fit to give a statement.

In another startling revelation, the Central Forensic Sciences Laboratory confirmed that the pouch recovered from Mahajan's house contained heroin.

"The one-inch by 1.5-inch red pouch handed over on June 2 contains heroin," a CFSL communique to the Delhi Police said on Monday.

The pouch was one of the five items handed over by the police to CFSL for examination.

Besides the packet, two torn pieces of clothes that belonged to Bibek Maitra and Rahul, and two samples of stomach wash of the duo collected by the police from the Apollo hospital, were also handed over to the CFSL for examination.
