BANGALORE: “I have given my heart to the nation. I am ready to lay down my life as well. Nothing would make me more glad,” declared Anna Hazare. Making his message clear to the government, Anna said that he would settle for nothing less than an effective Lokpal. “Introduce Lokpal or leave, that is my message. But it will not be enough to bring the government down. If this government is graduating, the other one taking its place would go on to do a PhD,” said Anna sarcastically, making his intention firm.Reflecting on the developments in April this year, Anna narrated the scenes of his early morning arrest. “Around 6 am, the police reached my place of residence and arrested me. I was taken to Tihar Jail. When I asked them my crime, they alleged that I was instigating riots. In the evening, however, I was told that I could go. But I wanted to play along with the government’s ‘plan’. I refused to leave the jail,” said Anna. “As for me, I did not marry for the sake of rendering service to society and nation. But I don’t want the young to imitate me. Please marry and raise more revolutionaries,” Anna called upon the youth. Team Anna will start an indefinite fast from December 27, if the government failed to introduce Lokpal in the winter session before December 26. “This is going to be final. From January 1, I will volunteer to be jailed, and so will tens and thousands of those who support this cause,” said Anna.
