SALEM: Former minister for Agriculture and DMK’s Salem district secretary Veerapandi S Arumugam returned home to a grand welcome by supporters. Released from the Tiruchy Central Prison on Tuesday morning on a conditional bail, the ex-minister reached his home at Poolavari around 2.30 pm.A large number of family members and kin accompanied him from Tiruchy. At Poolavari, hundreds of DMK functionaries and cadre accorded a grand welcome to him.  A similar crowd gathered when Arumugam came out after three days of custodial interrogation in the Angammal Colony case from July 25 to 27. The ex-minister was arrested on July 30 in the Dasanickenpatti land grab case as he was named as accused number 1. Arumugam did not meet reporters in his home town as he talked to the media immediately after his release from the Tiruchy prison. It is widely speculated that the government would frame yet another charge against him as there were a plenty of complaints against the ex-minister.Sources close to the ex-minister said that he would be proceeding to Chennai on Tuesday night as he has been asked to sign in a police station there.  Arumugam is likely to stay in Chennai to fulfill the bail conditions.
