BANGALORE: Lokayukta Justice Shivaraj V Patil has set up a new Action Plan for the speedy disposal of a backlog of around 13,000 cases lying pending since 1993.The Action Plan was prepared after conducting meetings with various sections such as complaint, enquiry and scrutiny sections, and has been issued for the speedy disposal of complaint and enquiry cases relating up to 2010, Patil told Sunday Express. The decision is being seen as a bold one, especially after the institution has made a name for itself by toppling the B S Yeddyurappa- led government with its report on illegal mining. The Action Plan has two sections - disposal of pending complaint cases and enquiry cases.Complaint cases coming under the jurisdiction of Lokayukta and Upa Lokayukta are scheduled to be disposed of within a specified time frame.Complaint cases relating to period between 1993 and 2002 shall be disposed off by October 2011; cases registered between 2003 and 2004 shall be disposed off by December; and cases registered between 2005 and 2008 shall be disposed off by end of April 2012 and all complaint cases relating to the years 2009 and 2010 shall be disposed of by August 2012.Likewise, all enquiry cases relating to the years 2001 to 2005 shall be disposed off by December 2011; those relating to the period between 2007 to 2009 shall be disposed off by June 2012; and cases of 2010 shall be disposed of by September 2012.Justice Patil at review meeting with officers of technical audit cell instructed that old cases disposed off.
