New Delhi: Choreographer-director Remo D'Souza says his dance drama 'ABCD: AnyBody Can Dance' wouldn't have happened without Prabhudeva in the lead. Remo, 38, said he penned the script a decade ago keeping the ace dancer in mind and waited for Prabhu Deva's dates.
"I always wanted to make a dance film. When I started choreographing for films, I used to tell my directors to make a dance film. But they never made any dance film. I wrote the story long ago keeping Prabhu Deva in mind. But getting him
onboard was difficult because he was busy with his own projects," Remo told PTI.
The high-octane dance drama, produced by UTV, has been shot in 3D and Remo says it was a challenge to shoot the film using the modern techniques.
"It is very difficult to shoot a film in 3D because it really increases your budget, time and patience. You can't just take a shot. Everything needs to be done minutely," he said.
After his stint as a choreographer, Remo made his foray in direction with youth-centric film 'FALTU' and after a gap of almost two years he is back with 'ABCD'.
The film stars former 'Dance India Dance' participants Salman, Dharmesh, Prince, Mayuresh and Vrushali. It will hit theatres on February 2013.
Asked the reason behind making youth-centric films only, he said, "We never make youth centric films in India. I wanted to make such film with which youth could relate to. So, I thought I should stick to this genre.
"May be others think it will not work because nobody has made it. They are not willing to take the risk. But I really feel that after my this genre people will start making dance film."
