CHENNAI: If any of you wanted a laid back evening listening to slow, serene classical music to ease your mind, then you ought to have been at the Jugalbandi with Bombay Jayashri and Shubha Mudgal at Sir Mutha Venkatasubba Rao Concert Hall. The performance took place on Saturday evening and was organised in aid of Sankalp Trust.Shubha Mudgal was accompanied by Aneesh Pradhan on the tabla and Sudhir Nayak on the harmonium, while Bombay Jayashri was accompanied by Embar Kannan on the violin and Patri Satish Kumar on the mridangam. On the tambooras were Karthika Vaidyanathan and Poornima Sathish. The Jugalbandi had both the soloists on equal footing. The chemistry between the harmonium and the violin, the tabla and the mridangam, the juxtaposition of compositions were at a consistent pace and came together as musical therapy. One such composition was based on a poem by the famed Bharatendu Harishchandra, and was presented by Shubha Mudgal. This was juxtaposed with Jai Gange Tunga Tarangani by Bombay Jayashri. The concert ended with a sloka in Bhairavi raga.
