THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Just three days to go and the State capital can boast of a rare honour of having  five District Collectors during this calendar year. While two of them had a four-month stint, one was in the seat for just 24 days. Sanjay Kaul was at the helm of the district when the city greeted the year 2011. The Kerala cadre IAS officer was just a week away from completing three years in the post when he stepped down on February 21. Kaul went to Gujarat as managing director of the Tourism Corporation of Gujarat Ltd (TCGL). Dinesh Arora managed the affairs of the  district from February 23 and continued there till June 22. He was in the chair for four months, when the Assembly elections and the new ministry formation took place. Arora gave way to P M Francis when he was transferred to Alappuzha. But, the Cabinet decided to appoint Information and Public Relations Department Director M Nandakumar as the District Collector when Francis completed four months on October 21. Francis was posted in Thrissur and Nandakumar  took charge on October 24. Though Nandakumar, also known as a numerologist, had selected a very auspicious time for the accession, he could survive at the Collectorate in Kudappanakkunnu for just 24 days. He went on long leave and then K N Satheesh, who was the Collector of Kasargod, assumed charge as the 37th Collector of the district  on December 21.
