THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: For all you busy citizens, here is a happy news for Deepavali merry-making. ‘Malapadakkam’ is here to the rescue of those who shuttle between professional and personal lives and who don’t have time to drop in at a shop to buy crackers to celebrate the festival.A group of youngsters here has launched a website www.malapadakkam.com, where cracker maniacs may log on to choose their favourite cracker to burst and celebrate the festival of lights this time. Sneha Collections, near Pazhavangadi, in association with a set of techies from Technopark, is behind this site, which offers free home delivery of crackers.Says Manu Dev, the HR officer with the Waybeo Technology Solutions Pvt. Ltd. in Technopark, who launched the site, “it was the result of a friendly talk with my friends. We found how busy people were these days and hence decided to help them buy crackers during this season with much ease.”The site is designed in such a way that clients can speak to the seller for free through the software ‘BounzD’, the widget on the site, developed by Waybeo Technology. Anand Gopan, who came up with the home delivery idea, says, “though it began as a funny idea initially, now we realise the significance of such a service in a busy place like Thiruvananthapuram.”The site throws up three options to choose from. A children’s box comprising 16 varieties is available for Rs 300; by paying Rs 450, a family box comprising 20 items will arrive at your doorstep and Super Box can be owned by shelling out Rs 600 for 23 items. With the click of a button, the box will arrive at your home on the date you specify, without delivery charge.According to Ajithkumar G P, owner of Sneha Collections, “just two days after the launch of the website, we received around 300 orders. With 11 salesmen, we distribute crackers in a 10 km radius. Many have demanded crackers on Saturdays and Sundays owing to their convenience.”Customer satisfaction too has made the infant ‘malapadakkam’ a big hit just two days after its birth. Vivek S Nair, an HR Manager hailing from Sasthamangalam, cannot hide his joy. “Having a busy schedule, I often set out to buy crackers the day before Deepavali and most often have ended up pouring in more money to get my favourite variety. ‘Malapadakkam’ is charging only a reasonable amount and I am happy with their services.”
