KOCHI: The lackadaisical attitude of the Ernakulam district administration has been causing huge loss to the state exchequer. On Thursday the district administration shifted as many as 56 vehicles, which were lying idle at the collectorate compound. The collectorate officials have not taken the trouble of implementing an earlier court order to dispose of all seized vehicles. Had they done that the district administration would have got an amount of more than Rs 5 lakh from the sale. “Most of these vehicles are old. As per the available statistics, we have shifted as many as 32 vehicles on Thursday. The value of these vehicles will come to more than `5lakh as per a rough estimate,” said Abdul Shukoor, Joint RTO, Ernakulam.Though these are parked at the collectorate compound, these vehicles belong to various departments under the district administration, pointed out T J Thomas, RTO, Ernakualm. “These vehicles are from various departments, which had seized the vehicles. There is a delay in disposing of those vehicles owing to the delay in getting nod from departments,” the RTO said.
