A Sikh man working at a gas-station in New Jersey was shot dead over the weekend in an attempted robbery case. The local police in New Jersey has announced an award of USD 8,000 for information leading to arrest of those responsible for the murder of Surinder Singh.

A Sikh man working at a gas-station in New Jersey was shot dead over the weekend in an attempted robbery case. The local police in New Jersey has announced an award of USD 8,000 for information leading to arrest of those responsible for the murder of Surinder Singh.

A native of India, Singh,40, worked at a gas station as an attendant at Garden State Fuel in Woodbury for 14 years. A massive manhunt has been launched in New Jersey for the two persons allegedly responsible for the killing of Singh. The police also released sketch of one suspect. One of them was described as a black male weighing 150 pounds, 5-feet, 7-inches tall, armed with a small handgun. They fled scene in a small, silver vehicle north on Broad Street.

According to the police, Singh was shot twice once in upper chest, which went straight in and a second time near the right arm pit. In a statement, North American Punjabi Association alleged that the US law enforcement agencies have failed in protecting the lives and property of Sikh Community in the country.
