Some parts of Hosanagara, Sagara and Tirthahalli taluks received heavy rainfall while Shimoga, Bhadravati and Shikaripura taluk received moderate rainfall.
Heavy inflow of rainwater into the Tunga river of Tirthahalli taluk inundated Shimoga-Tirthahalli road for many hours, and also raised concerns about the chances of Mandagadde bird sanctuary getting submerged.
To clear a traffic jam on Shimoga-Tirthahalli road the authorities had to open all the 10 gates of Tunga reservoir, so that water could recede. More than 1,000 acres in Beesanagadde village of Sagara taluk got submerged.

Rising water level in Varada taluk submerged 75 acres of land in Sorab taluk. A bridge near Belur on Ilkunji-Thirthahalli road and three other bridges in the region have been washed away in the flood water.
Deputy Chief Minister K S Eshwarappa, who visited Ilkunji bridge site, said that Deputy commissioner has been directed to take immediate steps to restore the connectivity.
