2G scam: CBI arrests DB Realty promoter Balwa
CBI sources said there was not enough evidence against Nira Radia in the case so far.

New Delhi: DB Realty's promoter Shahid Usman Balwa was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday for his alleged role in the 2 G scam after a day long interrogation. He will be produced in court on Wednesday and will seek remand in Mumbai.

This is the fourth arrest in the 2G spectrum scam after former telecom minister A Raja and his key aides Siddharth Behuria and RK Chandolia were arrested on February 2.

Balwa was earlier summoned twice by the CBI but did not respond to the summons.

He is alleged to have links with former telecom minister A Raja and the Dravida Munnettra Kazhagam (DMK). The promoter of DB Realty reportedly sold 45 per cent stake in Swan Telecom to the UAE-based Etisalat in 2009 after the former got 2G spectrum licence.

Meanwhile, sources told CNN-IBN that the CBI has evidence against Swan Telecom and Unitech in the multi-crore scam. However, sources said that so far there has been no evidence against corporate lobbyist Nira Radia in the scam.

Sources say that the CBI is yet to find any evidence which can show that Radia was involved in criminal conspiracy in the scam. She has already been questioned thrice by the CBI in connection with the multi-crore scam.
