New Delhi: A 25 year old hotel management professional in Kerala committed suicide last Sunday after he was duped by an international job racket.

Usha Rajan has to force herself to get out of bed everyday and face a life without her son Praveen. His room lies exactly as he left it. His books, bed and table still testimony to the 25 year old, who lived here until last Sunday, when he took a rope and hanged himself.

Praveen Rajan was a postgraduate with a diploma in hotel management, driven to commit suicide after he was duped by an internet job racket.

“We educated our son with great difficulty. Now we will never see him,” says, Usha Rajan, Praveen's mother.

It began on an online chat room, when Praveen met two men who called themselves Mark George and Lawrence Moore, and claimed to work in London.

The men promised Praveen a job at the Marathon Oil Corporation in Scotland, inducing him into giving them Rs eight lakh. It was only when Praveen and his father came to Delhi to get his visa that they found they had been cheated.

“He had great hope in this job opportunity. He was very tensed since past many days, especially when he realised that he was being cheated. He was becoming moody and talked less. We could not save his life,” says CV Rajan, Praveen’s father.

The police have registered a case of suicide, and the family plans to file a case of cheating. However, the police authorities know little about the men who duped Praveen. Justice for Praveen's family seems to be a distant hope.
