BANGALORE: In separate incidents, two women were murdered in the city on Wednesday.In an incident reported in Avalahalli police station limits on the outskirts of the city, Bharathi Reddy (40), a native of Malur, was murdered by some unidentified miscreants in the wee hours of Wednesday. She was an employee of a pharmaceutical company in Malur.The police said that this could be a case of murder for gain and the culprits might have escaped with her gold ornaments after the murder. The miscreants hit her head with a blunt weapon. The body was found at an isolated place near Sowmya Public School on Kothanur main road.The victim’s husband, Krishna Reddy, a lorry driver, passed away due to cardiac arrest two years ago. As it was Mahalaya Amavasya on Tuesday, Bharathi along with her elder daughter Tulasi had gone to her brother-in-law, Nagaraj Reddy’s house at Anandapura in K R Puram.“At around 5.30 am, she left Reddy’s house as she had to go for work and Tulasi, who is pregnant, stayed back at her uncle’s residence. Later, at around 9.30 am, some passersby noticed Bharathi’s body lying near the school and informed the police. The miscreants took away the ornaments she was wearing,” the police added.Avalahalli police have registered a murder case and are investigating.In another incident reported in Yelahanka police station limits, a man who suspected his second wife’s fidelity bludgeoned her to death before trying to commit suicide by slitting his throat. The victim has been identified as Gulnaz Begum (30). Chand Pasha (40), a weaver, the accused and has been arrested by the police. A native of Andhra Pradesh, Begum had married Pasha six years ago. The couple were residents of Gandhi Nagar.According to the police, the couple did not have any children and Pasha was upset over this. He also suspected his wife’s fidelity and this led to frequent fights between them. On Tuesday night, Pasha came home late and picked up a quarrel with his wife. In a fit of rage, he took a machete and attacked Gulnaz, who died due to grave injuries. On Wednesday morning, the victim’s sister, who resides in the same area, found Gulnaz’s body in the house. After this, Pasha tried to end his life by slitting his throat with a knife out of fear.“After getting treated at a hospital, Pasha was arrested. His first wife stays at Kamakshamma Layout and has four children,” the police added.Later, the body was shifted to Dr B R Ambedkar Medical College and Hospital mortuary. Yelahanka police have registered a murder case.
