With the arrest of a college student on Friday, police claimed to have solved the recent murder of a 38-year-old man, who was found buried in a farm at Ondipudur.
The 19-year-old accused was enraged over the fact that his mother was involved in an illicit relationship with the victim, Karthikeyan, police said.“We found that it was the boy who had carried out the well-planned murder. He had even brought along night show tickets from a cinema theatre on the night he committed the murder to show that he was not in the locality during the crime,” Police Commissioner A K Viswanathan said.
Vellaidurai bumped off Karthikeyan on the night of August 5. A police officer said, “The boy even dug the pit (where the body was found) earlier in the evening and hid near the spot, waiting for his victim. He attacked Karthikeyan using a sickle before the latter could react. He repeatedly hacked him.”
