15 kg ganja seized from drug peddler

CHENNAI : A drug peddler from Madurai, who was smuggling 15 kg of ganja worth `1.5 lakh was nabbed by the Government Railway Police (GRP) at Central railway station in Chennai on Monday.According to V Ponramu, Deputy Superintendent of Police, GRP, the culprit identified as Malayan from Usilampatti in Madurai district was interrogated under suspicion, when he reached the city by Howrah Mail at 6.00 pm in the evening. The accused had procured the contraband from forest areas near Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh and boarded the Howrah Mail bound for Chennai, he added. Police sources said that Malayan was smuggling ganja to sell in his native village.
