13 hurt in gallery crash

KOCHI: As many as 13 persons were injured after a temporary gallery set up at the Eloor Manjummal ground collapsed late on Sunday. The incident occurred during a match of the George Eden Memorial All-India Football Tournament oraganised by the Manjummal United Club.The incident took place at 9.20 pm as many thronged the makeshift gallery which was erected on the eastern side of the ground.According to the police, on spotting the former Indian player I M Vijayan playing, the spectators kicked up celebrations which led to the collapse of the gallery.The injured persons were taken to a private hospital, the police added.
