New Delhi: At least six schoolchildren have been killed and 18 are missing after a school bus carrying 32 passengers fell into the Phalguni river at Ulayibettu,15 km from Mangalore.

According to eyewitness reports, the bus was overloaded and plunged head-long into the river that was swollen due to torrential rains.
The state government has ordered an inquiry into the icndeit and has announced a compensation of Rs 1 lakh for kin of each of the victims.
