iPhone Showing the Wrong Location? Here's How to Fix It
Is your location showing the wrong place on your iPhone? This can be due to a few reasons, such as disabled permissions, outdated software, and even poor connection. Luckily, there are a few ways to make your location more accurate. Here's how to fix your iPhone when it shows the wrong location.
Things You Should Know
  • Your iPhone may show the wrong location if you have an older iOS, disabled location permission, and faulty service or connection.
  • Make sure you have Location Services enabled and a good Wi-Fi or cellular connection.
  • Restart your iPhone and keep it up-to-date to fix software issues.

Make sure Location Services is on.

Enable Location Services. This feature must be enabled to use apps such as Find My, Apple Maps, and more. If you don't have this enabled, your location may be incorrect. Do the following: Open the Settings app. Tap Privacy & Security. Tap Location Services. Toggle on Location Services.

Check your connection.

Make sure you have cellular or Wi-Fi access. If you're in an area with poor signal, your location won't be able to update properly until you're connected again. If you're on cellular data, you may need to check your data usage to see if you have enough data to spare.

Restart your iPhone.

Restart your device. A quick restart can fix common issues. Do the following: On iPhones without a Home button, press and hold the Power button and Volume Up button until the Power slider appears. On iPhones with a Home button, press and hold the side button until the slider appears. Slide the slider with your finger and wait for your iPhone to turn off. Wait 30 seconds, and then turn it back on.

Set Date & Time automatically.

Toggle on automatic Date & Time. When this feature is toggled off, it may cause some issues with certain apps. Do the following: Open the Settings app. Tap General. Tap Date & Time. Toggle on Set Automatically.

Reset your Location & Privacy settings.

Factory reset your location settings. When these settings are reset, apps will need to ask for permission to use your location again. Do the following: Open the Settings app. Tap General. Tap Transfer or Reset iPhone. Tap Reset. Tap Reset Location & Privacy.

Update your iOS.

Keep your iPhone up-to-date. Software updates include common bug fixes. Do the following: Go to Settings. Tap General. Tap Software Update. Tap Download and Install.

What's your reaction?
