The game was announced on May 25, 2007, and released for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, and Nintendo DS. It's very popular.

There are several ways to play this game. You can play through the game in story mode. You can play for points. You can play to collect white mini kits, you can play to collect red power bricks, and you can play to collect blue canisters.
Steps

Play through story mode. Story mode is essentially a series of rooms through which you must advance. Some rooms include some sort of puzzle that must be worked out to enter the next room. Many gamers derive a great deal of satisfaction from figuring out how to get through a level with as little guidance as possible, but if you are completely frustrated and you just want to know how to get past a particular obstacle, then there are many detailed walkthroughs available elsewhere on the Internet. Upon completion of each chapter, you will be awarded one gold brick; you will unlock freeplay for that chapter, and you will unlock the characters featured in that chapter. Some characters will become immediately available to you while others will be available to purchase in the Cantina. See below for a handy reference table of playable characters.

Play for points. Points are awarded in the form of Lego studs. Silver studs are worth 10 points, gold studs are worth 100 points, blue studs are worth 1,000 points and purple studs are worth 10,000 points. Studs are generally awarded when you destroy some piece of the scenery, but they can also be found lying on the ground like bread crumbs leading to the next challenge. Each chapter has a set number of points that must be obtained to achieve the status of True Jedi. A gold brick will be awarded if you achieve True Jedi and complete the mission. See below for a handy reference table of how many points are required at each level. If you are having trouble winning as many points as you would like, try these strategies. Blow up everything you see. Take the time to wander around each area destroying everything. Too many times you will be lost or confused in a segment of a level and not know what to do, but are too bothered to watch a tutorial on the same level. The best two ways to avoid this are destroying everything and checking rooms previously. On a level with a lightsaber character, it's best to jump twice and attack so there will be area damage. Some levels require building an object from destroyed objects and the game doesn't tell you, so destroying everything around you is a good first step in finishing a level or other reasons. While checking rooms previously does sound simple, it is very effective when trying to achieve an objective. With mini kits and power bricks they tend to be hidden in areas of the game you wouldn't expect. The best way to look for them is with a power brick detector and by searching every corner and doing anything that can be done (using force on an object destroying metal with a bomb using astromech etc.) Stay alive. You lose studs when your character dies. Avoid dying by taking care to collect red heart charms to restore your health or by activating the invincibility extra. You can also decrease the effect of your death by turning off the extra called adaptive difficulty. See How to use power bricks for more information regarding extras. Turn on the stud magnet. The stud magnet is an extra available to buy after you find the associated power brick. When activated, it is significantly easier to collect studs during gameplay. See How to use power bricks for more information regarding extras. Turn on character studs. Character studs are an extra available to buy after you find the associated power brick. When activated, enemy characters turn into studs when defeated. See How to use power bricks for more information regarding extras. This is particularly effective while playing levels with an unlimited number of enemy combatants; for example, Episode 2 Chapter 4 Jedi Battle, and Episode 3 Chapter 4 Defense of Kashyyyk. Turn on the stud multipliers. Stud multipliers are extras available to buy after you find the associated power bricks. They are very expensive, but when activated every point you find is multiplied by 2,4, 6, or 8, depending on which multipliers you have activated. See How to use power bricks for more information regarding extras.

Collect the Minikits. each chapter has 10 mini-kits. When you collect all ten mini-kits, you can build the kit outside the cantina, and you earn a gold brick. There are a total of 360 mini-kits (10 kits multiplied by 6 chapters multiplied by 6 episodes). If you collect all 360 kits, then you will have also earned a total of 36 gold bricks.

Collect gold bricks. There are 160 gold bricks to collect throughout the game, 36 available by completing story mode, 36 available by achieving True Jedi, 36 available for collecting mini kits, 12 available by completing the super stories, 20 available in the bounty hunter bonus missions, 6 available in the bonus levels, and 14 can be purchased in the cantina.

Collect blue canisters. Each chapter can be played in story mode, free play, or challenge. In challenge mode, you receive a collection of characters to work with and are tasked with discovering the locations of ten blue canisters. You must find all ten in ten minutes. When you do, you are rewarded with 50,000 points.

Watch for the game characters. The most notable characters you would want would be General Grievous, Jar Jar, Captain Tarpals, Boba and Jango Fett, force ghosts Ben Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker, and Yoda, commander droid, and a droideka. These characters each have a unique ability. Grievous, Tarpals, and Jar Jar can all jump higher than the average minifigure which can be helpful to jump over obstacles a normal character can't. This ability is most useful in the level DARTH MAUL where you can skip the first segment by jumping on the floating bridge. (grievous bodyguards can also jump around the same height but you can't double jump, making jumping over an obstacle more of a challenge than a convenience.) The Fetts can use their jetpacks to fly around making parkour or an area where an astromech is supposed to go much easier, especially because they can jump and gain an extra height advantage over astromech. Watto and the genosian both work like Boba and Jango, but stop flying after they go over a hole. The force ghost is invincible to enemy damage, whether it be an explosion or a blaster shot. Enemies can't attack you either way so you can just walk around without worrying about losing your studs. A droideka and commander droid are strange options but both have their advantages. The droideka has a shield that can only be destroyed by a lightsaber or another droideka practically making you invincible in episodes 4–6. The droid commander can shut down other droids, rendering them useless which can be very helpful against droidekas or in the genosis arena level, jedi battle.

Use the terrain. If you know the terrain around you, or see an obstacle to use as a way of finishing the level, you can use it to your advantage. While I can't name specific moments in which I've used this, having characters who can jump high such as grievous you can skip certain parts of a level without having to use other tedious ways of getting to your objective. Other times there will be a path that forces you to slide down. When it comes to those paths find the nearest solid object to stand on to reach the top. On flat surfaces, you can use a droideka to travel around faster, and on areas with a lot of holes around or obstacles standing in your way (droid factory) slowing you down, you can use either of the Fetts.

What's your reaction?
