How to Live a Long Life on Animal Jam

Dressing up as an Egg or Newborn

Choose a variety of small animal. These include: Bunnies Owls Lynxes Red Pandas Pigs Penguins Seals

Dress up all white if you are an egg. If you are a newborn, you can look like a mix of your parents! If you only have a mom, ask her what your dad looks like. If she says you don't have a dad, you can just look just like her. If she doesn't like that, or if your character would not like that, you can choose to look different.Live a Long Life on Animal Jam Step 2.jpg If you want to be a newborn, ask your mother first. If that's okay with her, you can go on to the next steps, but if she doesn't want that, you can skip this method and become an infant.Live a Long Life on Animal Jam Step 4.jpg

Don't wear any accessories yet, aside from an Old Blanket or similar clothing.

In the case of a newborn, follow your mother around.

Be born at the right time. You can go to the hospital with your mom, or your mom can give birth to you at home. If you're an egg, you can also just hatch. You can choose when it's time, or your mom can choose. If you chose to be a newborn and your mom doesn't want you to be born yet, you should respect her wishes and stay. But if you stay unborn for so long you start getting bored, you should let your mom know that you are getting bored. If she still refuses, you can leave and try another roleplaying partner.

Prepare to be born. When your mom gives birth to you, she pushes you out, come out, and cry. Sometimes the mom doesn't want to go through the birth. If that is so, you can just skip to newborn without a birth, or you can hatch.

Allow yourself to be cleaned. When you come out of the egg or mother, allow your parents or the doctor clean you.

Being a Newborn

Stay a small animal.

Have fun with your mom, and dad, if you have one! If you want something, cry. You don't know how to talk yet, so you have to let your parents know you want something by crying. You will need to be fed, be played with and held, (if you don't get held by your parents you will get unhealthy and sad). If your parents are okay with role-playing the changing of the diaper, you can also pee and poop in your diaper and have your parents change it. If the parents think it is too gross, you can just skip the diaper changing. You can also skip it if you think it's too gross.

Put on cute clothes. Your parents would probably want you to have super cute clothes since you're the cutest little bundle of joy ever to them!

Grow up at the right time. If you don't know when you want to grow up, how about in three roleplay days?

Bringing Up Baby

Stay a small animal.

Make sure you get fed. You still need to cry to get what you want, since you can't talk yet.Crying for attention.png

Get lots of sleep. Babies have to sleep a lot. You can sleep whenever you want. It doesn't have to be nighttime.

Grow when it's time. How about in three roleplay days?

Being a Toddler

Stay a small animal.

Learn to walk! You will stumble and fall down a lot at first, but soon you will get the hang of it!

Learn to talk. You can copy your parents and try to figure out what the things they say means, and try to imitate that, or maybe your parents can help you learn how to say a word and what it means! Sometimes you can't say what your parents want you to say correctly. Maybe you will use the letter "w" a lot. But make sure you do this right. L's and R's can be replaced with the letter w, but you should never just add a w to make it sound like you're talking like a baby. Good Example: Hewwo! Bad Example: Hwello!

Watch TV with your parent(s). If you are to watch TV, watch shows directed to young children like sesame street or Dora the Explorer. Maybe say, "Mommy, look! it's (insert character in show)!"

Grow when it's the right time. How about seven role play days this time?

Growing into a Child

Start to change animals. How about a slightly bigger animal? Just don't be too big! For example, you can go from a wolf to an arctic wolf to a dire wolf, or a fox to an arctic fox.

Make sure your parents are educating you at this age. Your parents can send you to school where you can make friends easier, or you can be home-schooled and not have to deal with bullies. You can try to sway your parents one way or the other, but it is up to your parents which way you will be educated.

Make friends. Whether your parents chose public school or home school, or whether your character is an introvert or an extrovert, it is essential that you make at least some friends. Maybe your parents can send you to a daycare where you can meet lots of other kids!

Becoming a Pre-teen

Start learning how to take care of yourself. How about asking your parents if they can teach you how to cook? Or maybe ask them about what to do if a stranger breaks into the house, or if an emergency occurs, like someone is seriously injured, or maybe a fire!

Start taking care of yourself. Perhaps you can ask your parents if you can be home alone.

Grow again before too long. How about in seven days again?

Living as a Teenager

Decide how you appear as a teenager. Maybe try being that same animal. Change your final appearance as a grown animal, or an animal close to grown.

Explain to your parents that you are nearing adulthood. If your parents are being overprotective, still treating you still as a child, let them know that you are almost an adult now. Let them know that you can deal with adult things better than when you were just a little kid.

Talk to your parents when you are ready to date. Ask your parents if you can get a boyfriend/girlfriend. Don't actually date whoever you want to date if your parents say yes, just roleplay date. Online dating can be risky. Please let your partner know that this is all just a roleplay, and you don't mean to become their boyfriend/girlfriend.

Don't act like a little kid because you are almost an adult.

Try to obey your parents. Like if you also have a baby sister or brother (or both) turn down your music or put it on headphones so your parents can put him or her to sleep. Or, if they don't want you to have a date, try to listen to them and not find a romantic partner until you are an adult. Of course, lots of teens do rebel, so if you really want to you can, but be prepared to get punished by your parents if they find out!

Becoming an Adult

Become the species of animal your character is meant to be. If you are playing as a furry (an animal which acts like a human and lives a human life) be whatever animal your character is supposed to be. If you are simply role-playing as a wild animal, the same applies, but remove anything that is human-like. If your character is supposed to be a human, be any big animal or maybe stay a medium animal if you're really short and follow these next steps.

Move out on your own. You have learned how to live and now it is time for you to live on your own. Say goodbye to your parents and leave. You can still visit them or let them visit you whenever you want!

Make your own food. You can also go to restaurants every now and then!

Get a job, or perhaps go to college! Going to college will help your character make lots of cool adult friends, find a love interest if they don't have one already, and learn all about what they need to learn in order to get the job they want. You can use Aj university or Ajschool's den as a good college place! If your character doesn't go to college, they won't be able to get a really good high paying job easily.

Get married to your character's love interest. Do so when you think it is time. Your character doesn't need to get a love interest, but if they have one, now would be a great time to marry them!

Have children. If you want, get kids. If you're married, you can get a biological child who looks like a mix of you and your love interest, or they can just look unique. You can also adopt a child, whether you are married or not! Go to the next method if you have decided to have kids! If you have decided not to have kids, skip to grandparent/elder once you're ready.

Raising a Baby

Decide what kind of kid you want. If you're married, you can get a biological child who looks like a mix of you and your love interest, or they can just look unique if you would rather have a child like that instead. You can also adopt a child, whether you are married or not. If you have a spouse, make sure you talk about it to them first before you decide to get a kid! DECIDEONAKIDBLURRED.png

Go get your child. A good option would be to go to a populated pillow center and find a kid there. If you have decided to adopt, it doesn't matter what your kid looks like. If you choose a biological child, it might matter more, depending on your preferences.

Customize your child. If you chose a biological child, customize the child to your preferences. If you don't care about the biological child's looks, you can skip this step. Customization of child blurred.png

Prepare for pregnancy. If you chose a biological child and want the baby to be in the tummy for a while, the mom will have to stay expecting for a little bit until the mom decides it is time for the baby to come out!

Choose to give birth to your child. If you chose a biological child and tummy, the mom has to give birth after a while. Before you give birth, the mom should say "The baby is coming!" or "Water breaks" or something similar. You can give birth at home or at the hospital, maybe get a nanny to help you with the birth if you chose home! Water broke.png

After giving birth, clean the baby and take them to the doctor if they are sick. Miracle of life.png

Respond when the baby cries. The baby does not know how to talk yet, so in order to get your attention, they must cry. Asking them to tell you what is wrong will not work. If they are crying, give them food, check their diaper, pick them up, play with them, give them all the attention they need until they stop crying.

Feed the baby often. Give them milk and eventually, start giving them baby food! After introducing them to baby food, give them less and less milk until they are fully weaned and only eat baby food! Yummy milk.png

Play with the baby a lot. They need lots of playtime and happiness, or else they'll be really sad, and they might try to get adopted by someone else if they get too sad! Playtime for baby.png

Prepare to raise a toddler. When it is time or the baby decided to grow into a toddler on their own, proceed to the next method! Happy bday baby.png

Raising a Toddler

Feed the toddler food every day. Now that they are not a baby anymore, they can eat more varieties of food! Yum food with toddler.png

Play with the toddler lots and lots!

Teach the toddler how to speak. Point to things and say what they are, and in no time the toddler should be speaking great! Tree child.png

Teach the toddler how to walk. Go far away from them and then tell them to come to you! Come to daddy bob.png

Pay attention to what they are watching. Sometimes a toddler might accidentally watch an inappropriate video, so you need to make sure they don't do that. That doesn't mean you need to be over their shoulder all the time, as this may make them uncomfortable.

Consider having another child. Now is an excellent time to get a child, so you might want to consider getting another one! You don't have to get one, though. You can have as many children as you like, whether you just want one or a whopping 14! But it's best not to get too many kids, it'll be harder to take care of all of them.Consider another child.png

Watch your toddler blossom into a child. When it's time or the toddler decided to grow into a child on their own, carry on to the next method! Happy birthday toddler.png

Raising a Child

Choose how you will educate your child. You can bring them to public school where they can make friends more easily but have the possibility of being bullied, (especially if your child has a disability) or you can educate them yourself which will be more work and it will be harder for your child to make friends, but your child won't have to deal with bullying. Comfort your child after a bad day at school. If you chose a public school and your kid comes home sad, make sure you comfort them. They were likely bullied or got in unneeded trouble with the teacher. Bullying.png

Take your kid(s) places, if they have been well behaved. Examples of these places include the Sarepia Theatre, the Conservation Museum, the Summer Carnival (if available), or Sol Arcade. If you don't know where they like to go, ask them. Depending on their age, you could let them do something on their own in that place, but try to stay close just in case!

Watch your child grow into a preteen. When it's time or the child decided to grow into a preteen on their own, follow the next method! Happy bday son child.png

Teaching a Preteen

Teach your preteen how to make their own food. This is essential to their independence as an adult, you don't want your kid to have to rely on restaurants all the time, do you?

Show your preteen how to escape fires. If they accidentally burn the house down while cooking, you want them to know how to escape, survive, and hopefully save the house from burning down.

Move on to the teenage years. After teaching your preteen, have your preteen become a teen and move to the next method.

Parenting a Teen

Make sure your teen stays out of trouble. If you catch them being romantic when they are not supposed to, or doing anything else you do not allow them to do, warn them. If they persist, punish them.

Try to understand your teen. When your teen is feeling out of sorts, try to help. Ask them why they did what is wrong, and try to find a solution to stop making your teen feel that way. Understanding your teen.png

Keep in mind not to be too overprotective. They are almost adults and may want to explore what it's like to grow up. If they seem like they're responsible, you can let them have a love interest or maybe allow them to have a little more space. You are responsible.jpg

Watch your teen grow into adulthood. When it's time, or your teen decides to grow into an adult on their own, prompt them to move out into their own house. Be free to allow them to have relationships if you didn't before, and then go on to the next method.

Becoming a Grandparent or Elder

Enjoy being at home. Retire from your job and get involved in what you enjoy.

Stay in touch with family. Your kids can take care of themselves now. Do check in with them now and again, so that they know you are okay. As well, it is your opportunity to make sure they are alright. If you had kids and they had kids as well, you can take your grandchildren to fun places and spend time with them.

Consider senior care. If you end up unable to care for yourself because of you getting weaker as your get older, you may consider going to a senior care facility, where you will be taken care of. Look forward to becoming a great grandparent/super elder, as in the next method.

Living Life as a Great Grandparent and Super Elder

Enjoy your senior years. Turn your hair white, or put on old looking clothes like patched jeans or a straw hat.

And eventually, follow the next method when you're ready.

Prepare for Your Death

Go to your family, and love interest.

Tell them you're ready for a big change.

Say goodbye to them, then fall asleep, and quietly pass. Even though they are likely really sad, fly up to heaven. This is the circle of life, and sadly, everyone eventually dies. If you want, you can become a ghost or zombie after you die. Just don't try to be super evil unless your character was really evil (For example, eating your parent's brains is not allowed). You may also be reborn later if you want to. Keep in mind that this step is optional. If you don't want your character to die, then you can skip this.
