7 Simple Ways to Disconnect Your iPhone from Your Mac
Do you want to stop sharing between your iPhone and Mac? The easiest way is to remove your iPhone from your Apple ID. Alternatively, you can disable shared features, such as Bluetooth, Messages, and FaceTime. Here's how to disconnect your iPhone from your Mac.
Unsyncing Your iPhone from Mac

Disconnecting Apple ID

Click the Apple menu. This is in the top-left corner.

Click System Settings. On older devices, this will look like System Preferences.

Click your name. This will be in the left panel. On older devices, click Apple ID and then Overview.

Click your iPhone. You'll see this listed under Devices.

Click Remove this Device. This is at the bottom of the page.

Click Confirm. The iPhone will be removed from the Apple ID associated with your Mac.

Disconnecting the Hotspot

Open Settings on your iPhone. This is the grey cog icon.

Tap Personal Hotspot. You can find this underneath Cellular.

Toggle off iPhone Switch Off Icon "Allow Others to Join". This will disconnect your Mac from your iPhone if it's connected via Hotspot.

Unpairing Bluetooth

Open Settings on your iPhone. This is the grey cog icon.

Tap Bluetooth. This is underneath Wi-Fi.

Tap the "i" in a circle next to your Mac. A new page will open.

Tap Forget This Device. Your Mac will be unpaired from your iPhone. If needed, you can pair it again.

Disabling AirDrop

Open Settings on your iPhone. This is the grey cog icon.

Tap General. This is towards the middle of the page.

Tap AirDrop. You can find this underneath AppleCare & Warranty.

Tap Receiving Off. You should see a blue checkmark by this option.

Disabling Handoff

Open Settings on your iPhone. This is the grey cog icon.

Tap General. This is towards the middle of the page.

Tap AirPlay & Handoff. You can find this underneath AirDrop.

Toggle off iPhone Switch Off Icon "Handoff". Handoff is now disabled on your iPhone.

Disabling Messages

Launch the Messages app on your Mac. Use this method if you don't want your iPhone messages to appear on your Mac.

Click Messages. This is in the top toolbar.

Click Preferences. This may also look like Settings.

Click iMessage. This is the section at the top.

Click Sign Out. A pop-up menu will open.

Click Sign Out again.

Disabling Incoming Calls

Launch the FaceTime app on your Mac. Use this method if you don't want to receive iPhone FaceTime calls on your Mac.

Click FaceTime. This is in the top toolbar.

Click Turn FaceTime Off. This is at the bottom of the window.
