Zac Efron Pays Tribute To 17 Again Co-Star Matthew Perry At Hollywood Walk Of Fame Event
“I want to mention someone who is not here today and that's Matthew Perry who was so kind and generous with me while we worked on 17 again," Zac said.

Zac Efron was recently honoured with a star on the prestigious Hollywood Walk of Fame in Los Angeles. During the ceremony, Efron reflected on his early career, highlighting his memorable roles in projects like High School Musical and 17 Again. In the midst of the celebration, he offered a heartfelt tribute to his late co-star Matthew Perry, who tragically passed away a few months ago. The 36-year-old actor shared fond memories from their time together on the set of their 2009 comedy film, commending Perry for his kindness and generosity. Efron also acknowledged Perry’s pivotal role.

The actor said, “I really also want to mention someone that’s not here today and that’s Matthew Perry who was so kind and generous with me while we worked on 17 again. Collaborating with him and Burr Steers was so much fun and it really did propel me and motivate me in so many ways. It really pushed me into the next chapter of my career and for that thank you so much, Matthew, thinking about you a lot today.”

Zac Efron played the younger version of Matthew Perry’s character in the 2009 film 17 Again. Before his passing, Perry had openly shared his eagerness to collaborate with Efron, which was confirmed by his friend Athenna Crosby.

In a conversation with Entertainment Tonight, Crosby told, “He said that he wanted to make a movie about his life, and he had worked with Zac Efron in the past on a movie and he said that he wanted Zac Efron to play him as a younger version. He was going to ask him soon to do that.”

On October 28, tragedy struck the entertainment world as Matthew Perry, star of the iconic sitcom F.R.I.E.N.D.S., was found unresponsive in his Los Angeles home. The news left everyone shocked and fans around the world, mourning the loss of a talented actor. A week later, Perry was laid to rest at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Los Angeles.

Meanwhile, Zac Efron’s Hollywood Walk of Fame event was attended by High School Musical franchise director Kenny Ortega and producer Bill Borden. The event also the presence of actors Miles Teller and Jeremy Allen White, alongside Efron’s family.
