oviDirector Rupert Sanders’ upcoming film The Crow has become the talk of the town, ever since it was announced in 2022. The action-thriller is the remake of the 1994 Alex Proyas directorial of the same name, starring Brandon Lee in the lead. The film was a box-office success, striking the right chords with the audience, thanks to the impressive storytelling and amazing performances. Now, the makers of the upcoming Rupert Sanders The Crow 2024 have unveiled the official trailer of the film, piquing the interest of the masses further.
Headlined by IT fame Bill Skarsgård, The Crow will premiere theatrically on June 7. In Sanders’ iteration, Skarsgård plays Eric Draven, who is killed alongside his girlfriend Shelly (FKA Twigs). In a limbo between life and death, Eric makes it his mission to avenge their murders.
The new trailer shows Eric coming back from the dead to get his bloody revenge. Alive once more, he’s imbued with supernatural powers and can withstand gunshots, shotgun blasts and stabbings. The anti-hero goes down a dark path to avenge Shelly’s death at the hands of their mysterious killers. The trailer shows a montage of brutal violence, including a scene where Eric shoots through his own chest to take down a surprise attacker and then removes a sword from his own body to finish the job.
This new version of the story – directed by Rupert Sanders – casts Bill Skarsgård as the young lover brought back from the dead to try and save the soul of his fellow murdered partner, here played by FKA Twigs. The first trailer promises plenty of gothic stylings (with a 2024 twist), tons of bloody violence, and considerable levels of angst.
Give it a watch here:
The official synopsis of the plot goes like this: “Soulmates Eric Draven (Bill Skarsgård) and Shelly Webster (FKA twigs) are brutally murdered when the demons of her dark past catch up with them. Given the chance to save his true love by sacrificing himself, Eric sets out to seek merciless revenge on their killers, traversing the worlds of the living and the dead to put the wrong things right."
Skarsgård is known for playing the clown Pennywise in the “It" horror franchise. FKA Twigs appeared in Alma Har’el’s “Honey Boy" (2019) opposite Shia LaBeouf and has also starred in her own music videos.
The original “Crow" film spawned three sequels released in 1996, 2000 and 2005.
