Actress Amy Jackson recently made headlines when she took to Instagram to share her new look. The photo quickly went viral on social media platforms as netizens said that the actress looked like Hollywood sensation and Oppenheimer headliner Cillian Murphy. Some even said that the actress looked unrecognisable and trolled her. In a new interview, Amy addressed expressed that she was hurt by the comments she came across. However, she felt “over the moon” by the comparisons made with Cillian.
Talking to The Times Of India, Amy revealed the reason behind donning this new look. She said, “I’m an actor and I take my job very seriously. For the last month, I’ve been filming a new project in the UK. So, for the character I am playing, I had to slim down and fully commit myself to the role.”
Addressing the harsh comments about her new look, Amy said, “The online outcry from the (mainly male) Indian demographic is quite sad. I’ve worked with male co-stars who had to drastically change their look for a film, and they were highly praised for it. The moment a woman does it through unusual hair and makeup which doesn’t conform to their idealism of beauty, they think they have the right to troll you.”
On being compared to Cillian Murphy, the actress said, “I’m over the moon. He’s chiselled perfection! I’ll get my flat cap and Brummie (Birmingham) accent ready for a Peaky Blinders comeback.”
For the unversed, the photos posted by Amy went viral owing to the focus on her higher cheekbones, her hairdo and facial expressions. The comment section buzzed with various reactions. One of them wrote, “Cillian Murphy female version>>>.” Another one commented, “2nd image looks like Thomas Shelby.” Someone else said, “Cillian Murphy Doppelganger?” A netizens also stated, “You were great in Oppenheimer.” However, some netizens also made rude remarks about her appearance, calling her “ugly” and comparing the photo with her past looks.
