Captain of the Indian men's hockey team, Sardar Singh, is set to marry soon – his long-time girlfriend Ashpal Kaur Bhogal confirmed it by tweeting on Friday.
Ashpal, who is a British resident living in Leeds, England, is also a hockey player having represented the Great Britain under-19 team.
"Such an amazing day with @8_SardarSingh . Excited to finally have confirmed the date we will be officially tying the knot. #weddingbells," she tweeted without disclosing the exact date.
The couple, who met during the 2012 London Olympics, got engaged in August last year. Ashpal has ever since been spotted at hockey grounds around the globe whenever India travels.
Ashpal, a Sikh like Sardar, was also present in Belgium recently where India finished fourth in the FIH Hockey World League semi-finals.
It is, however, unknown whether the couple will tie the knot before the 2016 Rio Olympics that is less than a year away and top focus for the Indian hockey team.
