New Delhi: The Red Devils’ boss believes that even an injury-crisis at Old Trafford won’t be enough to allow Chelsea or Arsenal a shot at the Premier League title.
Following another routine win – Fulham were dispatched 3-0 on Wednesday evening – Sir Alex Ferguson’s Manchester United are five points clear atop the Premier League pile and haven't conceded for an age.
Even though the resumption of the Champions League and domestic cup commitments will test Fergie's squad to breaking point, the wily Scot has ruled out the idea of a business end collapse from his side.
Arsenal fought back to take the title in 1998 despite a 12-point disadvantage, however, Ferguson has ruled out a repeat from the Gunners or Chelsea, reiterating by proxy that Liverpool are the only outfit capable of maintaining a challenge.
Ferguson told Sky Sports, "You can never be dead sure but it is fair to say Chelsea have an uphill fight now (in terms of the title).
"Things can happen, sure. We were 12 points clear of Arsenal in 1998 but we got a lot of injuries and lost the league.
"Now, though, we can cope with it, like we have done in the last few weeks.
"That is the change at this club. We have such a big squad we can make changes."
United host Blackburn Rovers on Saturday.
